Vitamin D is often called the sunshine vitamin, and it's a good name because most of its stores are produced in the skin under the influence of UV rays. The problem is that in our climate, there is simply too little of this sun for many months.
Vitamin D helps with the proper absorption of calcium, contributes to maintaining healthy bones and the proper functioning of muscles. It also plays a part in the proper functioning of the immune system.
It depends on age, body weight, lifestyle, and the season. The American NIH states 15 µg (600 IU) daily for healthy adults, and 20 µg (800 IU) after age 70. Polish recommendations may vary, therefore the dose is best determined with a doctor based on a 25(OH)D blood test.
D-Spray is vitamin D3 in MCT coconut oil, in a spray form administered directly to the mouth. One application is 10 µg of vitamin D, and a 10 ml package is enough for about 170 applications. The manufacturer recommends performing a 25(OH)D test and consulting the result with a doctor or pharmacist.
